Connor Malloy

I also provide continuing support for the Heat Smart Orkney project and Community Power Orkney.

Having worked at CES since 2016, I have worked on the early, more basic, demand-side management trial projects such as ACCESS and HSO, right through to the more advanced and pioneering projects such as SMILE and ReFLEX. As such I have developed a good understanding of a wide range of elements required to make these projects work, from customer and community engagement, to technical specification, project installations and local grid flexibility work alongside grid operators.

Having grown up on the island of Burray in Orkney, I am passionate about protecting and empowering rural communities, particularly island communities, and feel that the work CES carries out provides a great opportunity to work in partnership with community groups to provide economic and social opportunities to their communities. I think it’s great to see colleagues from different backgrounds and areas share similar values across CES, be it in rural or urban areas, and feel that as a relatively small team, we all provide our own areas of expertise or interests that together, make CES a successful organisation that can provide support in innumerable ways.

A keen musician (although semi-retired), I have been lucky enough for music to take me to venues and festivals across Europe in my younger days! All round music geek, big fan of reading ‘classic’ novels and my first love, Celtic FC.  I could probably be considered the local office gossip…
