Benny Talbot

My other responsibilities include policy input, particularly in relation to Green Recovery and DSO (Distribution Systems Operator) transition.  I’ve worked with Community Energy Scotland since 2014 and I’ve led the development and delivery of CES work on local energy supply, smart control systems and demand flexibility. I acted as technical lead for both the ACCESS and Tower Power projects, using the powerful combination of ‘hard’ technical expertise with ‘soft’ community development and communication skills. I co-ordinate CES policy input into the DSO transition and sit on the SPEN RIIO-ED2 customer engagement group. I’ve gained a first class degree in history from the University of Cambridge, an MSc with distinction in Sustainable Energy Systems from the University of Edinburgh and I speak Spanish well.

I hold a strong belief in social and environmental justice, and I have a love of making things.  My partner, Alice, is a primary school teacher, and my hobbies including hiking, assorted traditional crafts and teaching people how to make solar panels.
