Nigel Burgess


Nigel qualified as a civil engineer and moved to Mull in1976 where he established a boatyard serving the fishing industry and leisure craft. He was then involved in an offshore mussel farming enterprise and pioneered submersible mussel rafts with a European Consortium.

Nigel Burgess is a director of Mull Renewables Investments Ltd. and In 2012 he acquired MCS status for Mull Wind Power installing a number of small scale wind turbines on Mull, both grid tied and off grid, which he continues to maintain.

Nigel helped to promote the Community share offer and build the 400 kw Garmony Hydro scheme which has delivered The Waterfall Fund since 2016. He then assisted with community engagement for the ACCESS Project alongside CES.

Nigel Burgess has joined the Board of Community Energy Scotland to continue the business of ‘Assisting Communities to Connect to Electrical Sustainable Sources’.

He is also a committed Gaelic singer.
