Gordon Gilfillan

Head of Development

Gordon identifies and develops new CES programmes and sources of income by working closely with the rest of the team and our members.

I joined Community Energy Scotland in September 2022 and my role centres around assisting the wider CES team in the development of new projects, project funding and project delivery.

I graduated with an LLB in Law from the University Strathclyde in 2004, went on to complete my Diploma in Legal Practice and later qualified as a solicitor in 2007. The law wasn’t for me however and over the years I have held various roles building retail businesses, delivering industry projects and managing rental properties.

When I began working in the third sector that I realised my real passion lay in helping communities. My most recent experience before joining CES saw me managing a community transport scheme and delivering local transport solutions, improving social cohesion and helping the most vulnerable in the community deal with the many issues exacerbated by the covid-19 pandemic and lockdowns. During my time with the organisation, I helped and led the team to win many awards including UK Community Transport Provider of the Year 2021 and Highland Heroes Finalist 2021. CES is currently involved in various community and sustainable transport projects and I’m looking forward to bringing my expertise to this new role and assisting with these projects.

I really believe that many of the world’s most difficult problems can be solved at community level and I feel privileged to be working with CES to help communities tackle some of the biggest problems right now: The climate crisis and fuel poverty.

I live in Aviemore with my wife, my 2 kids and my German Short Haired Pointer, Oreo. When I’m not at work I’ll be out on my mountain bike with Oreo running beside me, playing with my kids, playing ice hockey (very badly), skiing on Cairngorm or curled up watching TV.
